In 7 yrs of trying to catch a shot of the whipbirds in my garden this is the only one I have managed. They taunt me. They know

I also have a heap of echidnas on my place. I don't get to see them often so was over the moon at this one wandering past me as I sat out with my camera one afternoon

I purposefully put this fryingpan down low so more than just birds would be able to drink from it, but this week is the first time I've actually seen that happen. One of my resident goannas stopping for a drink on his way thru

    Wet sensor clean

I use the visible dust swabs and fluid. These ones by Eclipse look like they may be cheaper. Might try them next time. Thanks for the linky to the Aussie stockist @wombat

Pictures from my week away at my sisters. Alot of them were taken with her old camera after mine got wet and stopped working. I also broke my glasses on the first day there so was struggling all week. Quite a few are not up to par but I had a great week. The whale watching trip was a bit of a...

Fill flash with long lenses and the Better Beamer

OK....getting better at this.... I like it, although I still rely on autofocus for birds so really low light means the camera struggles to focus, but even so, my settings prior to getting the better beamer would have been ISO 2000, f 6.3 & 1/40 - 1/60 if I was lucky

Fill flash with long lenses and the Better Beamer

Thanks Brad, I'll try that with the brick wall I actually didn't do too badly today as it happens. Still plenty of room for improvement but better than I thought I'd done. I think I had flash at 1/2, so I'll try it back at 1/4 tomorrow and see how that goes.

    Dirty Sensor

I have some pretty crappy dirt on my sensor. I've cleaned it twice now recently (today at latest) using visible dust products. I've just ordered a different cleaning fluid as I have no idea what that big black mark actually is, and I've run out of fluid now anyway. So.....if it doesn't come...

We got out to Moreton Island again...only for the 1 night. It's been really crappy weather her lately. Either raining or blowing too hard. As it was on this particular night the wind came up and my fella sat up all night as he could not sleep. We'd had a new anchor winch put on recently and...

Been a pretty crap week. Ex tropical cyclone Debbie tore on down the coast as a tropical low bringing torrential rain ( we had 600mm or 24 inches in 36hrs) which has bought extensive flooding to many areas. At least 8 houses in the tiny village I live in were flooded, or damaged by landslides...
