    The lake my wife and I were walking around was mostly iced over, so the ducks and gulls were way off in the distance most of the time. I did manage to get a few shots, though.

    This may not be my best shot technically, but the experience of watching owl nests this year ranks way up there as one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. This mother owl was particularly fascinating to watch. I spent many pleasurable hours trying to get a good shot of her in flight.

    I'm starting off 2016 with a common House Sparrow from my backyard. This is the first day in over a week that the high temperature has risen above freezing, and it was below zero last night. The birds seem to be thriving, though.

    More Kestrel shots in a different location. I was able to drive up very close to this guy and use the car as a blind.
