Anyone lose a pair of socks?

Yesterday at Lake Osborne. It was a gloomy afternoon.

When I got back to my parking spot, I noticed this. At first, I thought it was a palm frond. They tend to appear like other things. Then I noticed it had feet. It must have gotten caught in all the severe weather we've had recently.

Not for the squeamish, juvie Wood Stork floating in the water. Soft shelled turtle was pulling it under.

A friend of mine told me about this nest. I spent 10-15 minutes looking for it. The security guard helped me search and he spotted it in 2-3 minutes. No adults were around.

Broken Jaw is still looking healthy. Just checked my files, the first time I saw it was May 31 2023.
