A trick mama owls use to get young owls to practice flight is to wave food in front of them, then fly a short distance away to get the young one to fly over to get the snack.
Mom (left) was feeding the eldest youngster this morning. Even though this one took its first couple of short flights today, the parents will continue to provide food for a while.
Great Horned Owls today. One baby brave enough to venture a ways from the nest, one on the edge, and a third who just isn't interested yet. They will all be out of the nest very soon.
Went to the very eastern regions of Colorado to photograph Greater Prairie Chickens yesterday. The males are fighting for the attention of the females. This guy took a solid shot to the body. :)
