Are there any US Civil War buffs here on the board?

I also found this article which mentions there being several places in Yardley that were used as the Underground Railroad. The article also mentions the Yardley Grist Mill which supplied milled items which helped feed the soldiers during the Civil War. Here's a recent photo of the mill which is...

    Aperture and noise

Does the aperture selected affect noise that is generated when using a high ISO (specifically the D600)? When I shot the theater photos Friday night, I used ISO 1250. Since they had an extra spotlight that isn't normally used, I was able to shoot at @f/6.3 to f/7.1 instead of f/4.5 or wider...

How large of an SDHC card do you use?

Since my D600 will get shipped back to Nikon today, I'll be using my D90 to shoot my local high school's theater production--TONIGHT (or tomorrow night if something unexpected comes up today)! I've never used a card larger than 8GB in it because that's what recommended, but when I asked about...

HELP Please! D600 and ISO equivalent 50

Last week when I shot the waterfalls photos, I switched my ISO to the lowest setting possible--whatever is equivalent to ISO 50. The photos turned out fine as far as I can tell. I have 2 questions: 1. Since the equivalent ISO technically isn't ISO 50 but is listed something like ISO LO 1.0...

Is this 50mm lens on Amazon a USA warrantied lens? The link states: The price is $109 which is the price B&H is selling the imported version. Amazon link

    Scenic Bucks County, PA

Here are a couple of photos from Core Creek Park. The park tends to display some amazing colors during the fall season. I'm not sure if anyone can see the big bird at the end of the dock, but if so, does anyone know what it is? I'm not familiar with these types of water-loving birds other than...

    Oil Painting Effect

I'm on a calibrated monitor, and the shaded side of the face seems extremely dark. And of course you are missing the cracked paint look. ;) Image comes from...

    T-Shirt Design Contest Voting!

I took the liberty of seeing what the aperture design would look like if it didn't extend onto the sleeve. My apology if I overstepped my boundary! If people still like the design, perhaps the OP could submit one without the design on the sleeve?

Oil spots/AF issues--called Nikon for service

Yes, I also took f/16 but will retake both f/16 and f/22 when I have a plainer background. My point is this is just a few shots after getting it home. What will it look like after 300 shots? It certainly shouldn't need a wet clean THAT often.

Oil spots/AF issues--called Nikon for service

At this point, I am at a loss for words. If the sky wasn't so colorful, there might be even more spots visible.

What’s Your Color Vision Deficiency? Take the Test.

I don't see in 3D. I might have done well because of compensating for having trouble seeing dimension. This was like arranging crayons in a box, and as a kid, my crayons ALWAYS had to be arranged red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, and black. ;)

    Brides Throwing Cats

Brides throwing cats This sounds like it is a hit with some people. They actually don't throw the cats--the cats are photoshopped into the photos (I'm a cat lover and wouldn't want them to get hurt). It's a unique idea and a way to generate some additional income. For those who have...

Photos from Scott Kelby Photo Walk 2013

Here's BackdoorHippie staking out the best vantage point. You can't see it in the photo, but he was wearing two cameras, one on his right side and the other on his left--I think they were strapped to some type of harness. Jake, what were you using? And I think the following photo was taken...
