    Digital Photography PC

As many of you already know, I work for a tech company. We also build PCs, so I've been working with our engineers on a new configuration that is based on one of the gamer models. I will take delivery of this beast today: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit Intel Core i7-950 3.06GHz 12GB DDR3 memory 1TB HDD...

    You should be reading these...

How many of you know what an RSS reader is? I recently read a survey that most people have no idea, so don't feel bad if you're one of them. Have you ever seen this symbol?: Ah...now bells are ringing! This is the universal RSS (which stands for Really Simple Syndication) symbol. If you...

    Photography as a profession

Many of you have I'm sure, formed the opinion that I have a serious dislike for pro photographers, due to some of my responses on these forums. While this is true to a certain degree, it's an incorrect assumption. I have nothing but respect for those at the top of this profession. It's the...

    67mm Filter Kit?

As I mentioned in another post, I replaced my D90 kit lens with an upgrade from Tamron. I'm looking to get a 67mm filter kit, which will fit both lenses. Most of these starter kits come with 3 filters. Usually a CPL, UV, and ND filter...but there are variations. What would you recommend?

    Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8

I finally replaced my general purpose D90 kit lens with a Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD. This lens is held in pretty high regard and has some outstanding reviews. It ranks right up there, and even outperforms its Nikon and Canon counterparts in a few areas...and is much less...

    Modeling Shoot - NSFW! (Nudity)

NSFW - Not Safe for Work! I don't know that there are any rules against this, so I'll post it and hope for the best. If you're offended by nudity, then turn back now. I've taken some precautions here and covered the R-rated bits. This is about posing and lighting, and not naked...

Photography Organizations: The good, the bad, and the ugly

First and foremost, I don't want this thread to turn into an advertising banner for these groups. Please do not post links. They will be removed. Use Google if you're interested in learning more about the organizations mentioned here. There is always power in numbers. Unions and organized...

    Pinewood Derby 2011

I was in Cub Scouts when I was a kid, and remember it being quite fun...until the Pinewood Derby of 1983. The Pack Leader's son was allowed to enter an out of spec car, which of course won the race. Fast forward 25 years. Yes, I hold a grudge. My fiancee's son is in Cub Scouts and it's time...

    Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8

Been thinking about getting this lens. Or possibly the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, as I've read that either one is comparable to the Nikkor version at about half the price. Will be using one of these for MMA fights. Does anyone have experience w/ either lens?

    Big things in 2011!

I didn't want to say anything until it was all official-like. And now that it is... I have transferred schools, and will no longer be pursuing a degree in IT. After some soul-searching and analysis of the lousy IT market, I decided that was no longer a viable path for me. I'm not really...
