    Family Portraits

Did some family portraits the other week. This time of year where I am is absolutely perfect for golden hour shoots - the light is soft and glowing and just amazing. She wasn't the smiliest of kids, but I was pretty happy with how these turned out.

Not a wedding, but models dressing in wedding gear for a bridal magazine. Shot over 2 days. Was good fun. This is a selection of the unedited images that get sent to the magazine for them to pick the ones they want.

    Youngests basketball

My youngest had state championships the other weekend. She is 10 playing in U12 comp as she is so bloody tall! lol She did pretty well considering it is her first year of playing. Here are just a few highlights I snapped.

    Eldests Waterpolo

Took the camera with me to my eldests last waterpolo game for the season. She is 12 and playing U14's as she used to be a state swimmer so her swimming skills are fantastic. Hard game to shoot - you only get a head above the water and lots of splashing around too... but I was happy with these.

Another wedding out at Core Cider House up in the hills east of Perth - it is a magical place. Just a couple of shots here. Sorry the exif has been stripped. See if you can spot the 200mm f2.0. :)

    Golden Hour...

Another day, another wedding. Thought you guys might appreciate this. Golden hour at yesterdays shoot was amazing. These are pretty much straight out of camera - On import into Lr I adjust contrast slightly by default, but on some of these I think I am gonna have to up it some more and the...

    Bought a Godox AD600 strobe...

So took the new light out for a bit of a trial over the weekend for 2 prewedding shoots.. Still trying to find the right balance and light modifier for the light - these were shot with a el-cheapo no name brand beauty dish I got off E-bay for about $30. Was happy with the light strength, but...

Just one quick one that stood out to me...

Just going through putting the finishing touches on Kassie and Michael's wedding. Loved this shot as I was going through them all. Although I am not 100% sure about her hair in the wind... part of me loves it, part of me thinks it needs the chop.

    Kassie and Michael...

At the risk of drawing the angst and ire from a certain UK "photographer" who is "obviously" so much better than me, here is a selection from my last wedding for him to pull apart. All of my prep shots are ALWAYS natural light only. Kate (my sister who doubles as my assistant) uses flash for...

A couple from a fortnight ago.

These aren't necessarily the finished edits, but here are a few from a wedding 2 weeks ago. Ceremony was in a room with no windows and pretty terrible lighting - I don't like using flash for ceremonies but had to resort to it for a couple of images. Bling!

A couple I photographed are in the running to win a Wedding of the Year competition - they along with myself can win some pretty cool prizes. Can I ask that people go to July 2016 Nominees | Real...

    Father of the groom

As a Dad of 2 girls myself, I often wonder what must go through the Father of the brides mind on his daughters wedding day. As I was walking from the bride getting changed into her dress in another room, I caught the Father of the bride obviously deep in thought... Snapped this off and loved...

Another stroll through the golf course.

Same golf course as the last "Stroll through the gold course" but this is in a completely different area. This was also the same couple as "So it rained a bit" This is just before the rain came down. :) Used a single SB-900 left of camera as they walked towards me.

    Engagement Shoot at Golden hour

I am shooting the wedding of the gorgeous Nichole and her aussie rules football playing, fireman husband to be in October. Their package came with a pre wedding shoot which we did the other week. I must say the golden hour light was incredible. Taken on a D4 with either the 85mm f1.4 or...

    So it rained a bit.....

Made the most of a terribly rainy wedding day by shooting inside once the downpour started luckily it was after the ceremony), but couldn't help but get myself and my assistant wet for this awesome shot. Both ISO 1000, 1/40th @ f/4.0 Taken on a D4 with the 24-70f/2.8 @ 28mm
