Follow up to my most recent picture - shot from same spot, one cropped a lot and not downsized, the other no cropped but downsized for upload. The file name is the clue to which lens is which. One shot with a $25 vintage Nikkor AF 50mm 1.8 - the other with a $1,000 Siggy Art 50mm 1.4 -...

Stopped into a antique & collectible shop and found this 50mm AF 1.8 Nikkor. No "D" just AF. From what I've read one of the early copies as the originals were made in Japan in 1986 - sometime before they ended production in 2001 they moved production to China. This is a Japanese one. The...

    Fish photos?

Shooting fish is a barrel - not quite but close - shot in my aquarium. A pair of flashes set up at the end of the tank firing lengthways through the tank.

New fiberglass eight foot step ladder. I figure since I've not been able to get a spare grand or two together for a drone - this eight foot ladder would have to do for now.

In my box of vintage camera gear was this stuff - What is it? Some sort of clamping thing - I have not idea what this is or how it works.

What a haul I got given today All for free - a box full of vintage film cameras. Four Nikon bodies - F100, F90X, F70 and F601 A couple of Ricoh KR - the early KR5 and the KR10m A Minolta XR5 And the two older ones - a Pentax "Spotmatic" from 1964 sporting the latest thing in photography -...

The "She Shed" kit arrived today - costs the same as a Mavic but it does not fly. My dearly beloved is so excited to have this new 'she shed' she has lots of plans. This "She Shed" is a "thing" google it. Seems 'assembly is required' and an allen wrench ain't going to do it.

    Old and Abandoned

I am part of a Facebook Group called "Old and Abandoned Alberta" which is a photo sharing group that shares pictures of anything old and abandoned (or assumed to be abandoned). Lots of old weathering homesteads out our way. But lots of vehicles, and the occasional other object. Didn't see a...

This is the camera I had as a youngster - oh the fun I had with this "Swinger" in the Swinging Sixties. Dug into my old album for a sharable polaroid - this one struck me as probably my most accidentally artzy photo from that era - my kid brother and my Dad on a hammock. I don't have many...

    Post your macro photos here

No idea what kind of beetle this be A little Googling suggests maybe a Cottonwood Borer - but the face is not right. Also seems to be a southern bug that feeds on Cottonwood trees - don't think we have any of those around here. Never seen one before

    Macro with a Teleconverter

Discovered that I can tele-convert my macro lenses. Will play with that for a bit and see what happens. Makes most sense on my Nikkor AFD 105mm 2.8 but will try it later on my AFS 60mm macro too. The TC is a "Kenko 2X Teleplus Pro 300 DGX" - that's the description on the box. Got it on...

There were just two cardboard 'labels' attached. They use the Nikon logo, and it does say "made in China" - but no indication of any other company.

Bought a "Kenko 2x Teleplus Pro 300 DGX teleconverter. I bought it primarily for macro work especially with my AFD 105mm 2.8 Nikkor Micro. I did try some shots of a PC board - but realize that for this kind of shot I really should use a tripod. Played around with my new toy shooting an old...

It is not a drone. But cost more. Apparently we needed a garden shed much more than we needed a drone - according to my sweetheart with the greenthumb. Ordered a shed kit - today we bought the the foundation and floor which is not included in the kit. Day One - go to lumberyard - buy...
