    Crater Lake, OR

Ok, this image was taken with my 60 year old Rolleiflex 2.8E and not a Nikon in early spring, but it is still one of my favorites. It was shot using Panatomic-X film. There really is no EXIF data per se, the image was scanned with my Nikon LS-8000 and resized in Photoshop from an 84 MP image. If...

    Arches

Like so many others, this scene caught my eye long before I photographed it. This is a wall outside a Methodist Church downtown. I was struck by the symmetry and that beautiful stained glass window, which stands in contrast to the otherwise monochromatic wall. I have shot this image with the...

    Microsoft Outlook

This really has nothing to do with photography, apart from inserting images into emails but does anyone know a fix for the problem of clicking on a hyperlink in Outlook and getting the error that reads "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please...

I haven't a clue what kind of duck this is, except that it is probably tasty! D700 and 600mm f/4 ED-IF AIS

    As Thomas Tusser always said................

.......a fool and his money are soon parted. I have had an FE-2 for 25 years and love it, but this guy must be smoking crack to think he will sell this one for what he is asking. Nikon FE2 Black 35mm SLR Camera Tested Clean FM FE FA F100 F2 | eBay

    Homeless man with his dog

I shot this photo of a homeless man and his dog back in early March around 9am with the F4S and 300mm f/2.8 ED-IF AIS Nikkor and Tri-X. I developed it "hot" (75ºF) to accentuate the grain. The point of using black and white film and accentuating the grain is an attempt to show the bleakness of...

A couple of shots from my first "back to the 60's and '70's" project (NSFW!)

A couple of shots from my first "back to the 60's and '70's" project (NSFW!) Here are three shots from the first shoot of my "back to the 60's and '70's" project from last weekend. It took me a while to find a model who met the criteria I needed; hair that could be seen back then, no tattoos or...

Ok, this is truly MIND BLOWING

They swear there are no video tricks here. This makes my head hurt trying to figure out how this works. This stairwell is apparently at RIT in Rochester, NY. Magic Stairwell - Video A free D800 courtesy of JDEG to the first person who figures how how on earth this works.

I found an interesting web page that you might find helpful

It is an angle of view calculator. It allows you to enter your format (a wide range of them) and it gives you the 35mm/FX equivalent as well as the horizontal angle of view. It will accept a number of lenses and compares the angles of each. Also of interest is a photo it uses to depict the angle...

Oh well, too late for the monthly contest..........

............but here is a black and white abstract pattern using three champagne glasses. Shot in my homemade light tent with an F4 and T-Max 100 film. I love this stuff! I need to do a better job of keeping track of the date!

What is the origin and/or meaning of your handle?

I have the Hamilton watch my Mom gave my Dad as a wedding present back in 1957. The case and hands are solid 16K gold, as are the numbers on the face. It still has the original crytal and is in pristine condition. Only the band has been replaced, and that was before 1979 when my Dad passed away...

    Post your ultra-wide angle shots

For me at least, ultra wide angle means my fisheye or maybe my 20mm, but anything taken with a super wide angle focal length applies.

    Now THIS is big hair!

Leigh has very thick and wavy hair that goes down to about mid thigh. It is certainly an eyecatcher. I shot her on the RR tracks near my home using a D700 and 85mm f/1.4 AIS @ f/2 on an overcast day with balanced fill flash.

Who here has a cool forty grand burning a hole in their pocket?

One of my favorite images from my time in the Pacific Northwest

I get a chill each time I look at this photo. It was one of my best attempts, I think at least, of using the Zone System to achieve what I wanted out of an image. It is in a 16x20 in my den and has been for almost 25 years. Nikon F2, 55mm f/2.8 AIS Nikkor and Plus-X film at ASA 64. I "sepia...

One of my earliest attempts at serious portrait photography

Very primative setup compared to today! A Vivitar 283 bounced into a square Reflectasol umbrella using a hand-made mount and a Nikkormat FT3 with 105mm f/2.5 AIS Nikkor. The "background" was a piece of hand spray-painted posterboard. Tri-X film exposed at ASA 400. If I recall correctly, this was...

A couple from the way back time machine

Both were taken with the FE-2 and I am sure the 24mm AIS Nikkor either in either the winter of 1984 or 1985, probably 1985. Film was Plus-X rated at 64 instead of 125. The one of Mt Ranier was taken not long after sunset using a 25A filter to darken the sky even further. I may have used it on...
