    These pictures are obviously from the nieghborhood where I grew up. Good 'ole 1622 Barnett Road. It looks like it's been trashed now. I can't say I miss it, just the memories.

    Looking down Northwood Drive. It used to be a great sleighriding hill. It was also a bitch to walk every day carrying 80 pretty thick newspapers. I'd be out of business today as far as carrying papers goes.

    The last picture was of the landmark Dr. Pepper sign, and this one is the Roanoke Civic Center. We saw many of hockey games there as well as concerts.

    In the background is the Hotel Roanoke. I was a newspaper carrier and won an award for signing up the most new subscribers one year and got rewarded with a weekend at the Hotel. It was great fun!

    After my 3 brothers and I got haircuts when youths, my dad used to give us a buck and take us to the Flying Eagle Coin Shop, where we could buy used comic books for $00.05 a piece. We'd get so many we'd share them with the neighborhood kids too. Haircuts were at the barber school. Used to be...
