I bit the bullet and got CC

I made the decision that I needed LightRoom mainly for the Cataloging. I have too many photos to even try to keep up with. I is going to take me a while to get them organized. Any tips on doing it?

    Back-Button Focus

Dave was the one who hounded me about it. He is also the culprit that got me hooked on the Nik Collection.

A few quick test shots with the 35mm lens

A few quick test shots with the 35mm lens. And a special thanks to RocketCowboy for the great bargain. I am going to love this lens. Having to wait on the sun to come out to Fine Tune the focus on it.

I also agree with Scott. They look a little soft but I don't think your camera has the ability to Fine tune the auto focus. Someone else with the D5300 can chime in on that feature.

    Auto ISO

I decided to play with the Auto minimum shutter speed setting in the AUTO ISO. This is using the center setting on the slider since I thought that was a good place to start. I am using a DX camera since I am thinking it might make a difference. I shot the photos fixed on the same distant...

    35mm vs 50mm

I shoot with the D7100 and have decided I need a fast prime for general use. Do I go with the 35mm or the 50mm? And Why

Shoot the moon from a paddle wheeler on the Mississippi river

The moon shot hand held on a paddle wheeler going down the Mississippi River. Nikon D7100, 18-140 zoom Hand held. I was on a dinner cruise out of New Orleans and the moon was so beautiful and I only had my 18-140 with me so I decided to shoot it anyway.

Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show - Don Kuykendall

Went to the Blue Angels air show today in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Was overcast all day but did manage to get some decent shots anyway. Here are a few to start with. I shot close to 1,000 shots so it is going to take a little while to week through them.

The city of Spectre (Big Fish)

The boulders and the broken tree are important parts of the movie so they really need to be in the photo. The trees and the bounders are fake and made out of styrofoam and rebar with a concrete coating. They have been sitting out in the weather for 12 years now. The building are also just...

The city of Spectre (Big Fish)

I am working on a concept for this photo and I just can't decide if I like it or not. I think the concept is good but I am missing something and I can't figure out what. Stepping through the portal back to an older time. City is in very muted/faded color.

    Delete people from photos

Been wanting to try this for a while and finally found a place with enough people moving around in the same area to try it. Before After Step 1: Set your camera on a tripod. Step 2: Take a picture about every 10 seconds until you have about 15 shots, depending on how fast people are...

    Don's D7100 Daily Dabblings - 2015

It did take a while to dial in the delay to get the effect we were after. We started at a 45 millisecond delay and worked or way down to 0. The 0 delay worked best for us. The flash units were set of 1/128 power to get the shortest possible flash duration. With that setup we got the water still...

    SB700 Pre Flash

I have never done anything special with my SB700 Flash other than put it on and shoot it. Bounce or straight on. I am trying to learn more about it and also firing it based on movement with a triggertrap. My problem is that it fires three pre-flashes and I can not for the life of me figure out...

    Sensor Gel Stick by Eyelead

Got my Sensor Gel Stick by Eyelead in from Amazon today. Just watched a video on using it. It all looks pretty easy. I have had one spot on my D7100 that shows up on the sky and have been having to remove it in ACR so it does need cleaning. I am going to go out tomorrow and shoot the sky at f16...
