I would really try to find an aperture that works well and gives you sharp in focus pictures , something around F8-F10 , then set to an ISO of 400-800 and use Aperture priority to let the camera pick your shutter speed and try either a center weighted metering for birds in a tree or Matrix for... -

A Chance Shot
I shot this picture the other day and kinda like how it turned out with the composition but I'm not sure about if my colours are good , I use Aperture for processing and there is a lot of options available but I try not to make it look "overprocessed" because I'm not a big fan of pictures that...- Redtail55

D300 too old?
Kinda overcast here today so not great for picture taking but I think I did alright for a first outing . Nailed a Eagle inflight but not a good picture overall but at least it's in focus ! The other pic is a upclose goose @ISO1600!- Redtail55

Went for walk in the woods in a Provincial Park last Friday and spotted a Bald Eagle just sitting in the tree by the river , I was able to get off a bunch of photos before he took off. Inadvertently I was fooling around with the settings on my D3200 before going and it wasn't optimized for this... -

Here's a couple more from my walk. The other two attachments are from the summer in the same woods , the first is a walkway amongst the woods the second one is a fireplace leftover from an area that used to house a WW2 radar training center that has long been gone .
