I also remember that there is a lever you can swing to turn on LV screen when in "VF only" mode. AW, where is OP now?

My sold D3500 does have a button beside VF used to change views of LV/VF. Not sure about D3400 though.

I would think maybe you accidentally hit or turn the adjusting button that changes the view of the viewfinder/screen to "viewfinder only"?

My mistake! The price is ~$1700 and also, the weight is ~4.7 lb. It was very late last night like a sweet dream that every number 7 turned into 3... But the sweet dream waking makes the real world less regretful (bought Sigma at a much lower cost and only a tad heavier).
