    Cotswolds at war

We attended the Cotswolds at war event this weekend as my wife was working there, it is a great venue with a classic railway station and selection of operational steam trains. It was very well attended and despite the forecast we had some good weather, a well attended event with many in costume...

    85 hits the spot

I received my new 85mm f1.8 AFS-G on Friday after a bot of a wait but it was worth it and the price was right £299.00 all in! It is a great lens that is fast to focus and razor sharp and by way of a change I decided to try it for some general photos rather than portraits (the reason I bought...

    Equestrian captures

Today I had my first ever experience of shooting equestrian images, I took the D810 and just the 29-300 as I was not sure what to expect and how close I could get to the action. The weather was superb and the jumps even though small still allowed for some shots I am happy with. Sorry about...

    Scramblers

While I was in the park today I came across these riders on their trail bikes, it was a flat course with no jumps and as I was limited on time I grabbed some images with the 28-300mm on the D810 so see how it performed as a combo using CAF.

    The Park

I went into our local park today as my wife was working, it was a lovely day but pretty windy. I took just the D810 and the 28-300mm to see how flexible it is - have to say I am pretty impressed.

    Burford bites

We went to Burford (in the Cotswolds) for a quick visit on the Easter Bank holiday Monday and the weather was like a summers day, warm, sunny and lots of people around but it made for some interesting subjects from people in the streets to the church. I challenged myself by only taking the...

    First shots with 28-300mm

I managed to get a great deal on a mint used 28-300 yesterday (came with a years guarantee) so I thought I had better give it a run out on the 810. I am very happy with the lens, it is well made focusses quickly and delivers great images - it was overcast so lighting was pretty flat but the...

    Gloucester Street shots

A dull, wet and windy day today so I went to Gloucester city to grab some street shots with the D810 and the 24-120mm f4 lens. These are the first real street shots with people I have taken with this combo and I am really pleased with the performance and the results.

    People in Weston

These were a few of the people I photographed yesterday in Weston, once again the 810 / 24-120 combo for me is a perfect street / general photography mix.

    810 at Weston

We went to Weston-Super-Mare this afternoon for a run and while my wife went shopping I spent time grabbing some images, the sky was great for some dramatic shots.

    Dull Sunday

Out on Sunday with the D810 and the 24-120 f4. Very dull, overcast and threatening with flat lighting but I was determined to grab some images with this combo and I am happy with the results, the 810 certainly does a good job capturing the details even in flat light.

B&W with a touch of colour

We were in Bourton-on-the-water (The Cotswolds) on Sunday and I took the D810+24-120 f4, very contrasty light and cold and full of tourists so we are lucky having this on our own doorstep. I left a touch of colour in some of the images just for effect.

    Local streets

    Archie's special day

Our grandson was christened on 1 Feb and I was the "official photographer" for the event so had to get it right! I used the new D810 with 24-120mm f4 and the SB700 with diffuser and shot all on manual (100iso 1/25o @5.6), here are a few from the ceremony.

    Local shops at closing time

I wanted to capture some images of local shops today with the D810 & 24-120 f4. I am really happy with the results and the D810 captures great tones & textures as well as the real colours - Happy:)

    Rays of sun

I grabbed these images of the sun's rays pushing through the crowds before it finally set, the clouds were moving fast causing the scene to change rapidly. Handheld with the D810 and 24-120 F4.
