    Post Your Birds (3)

I assume you shot this with z8 (Efix doesn't show). It's amazingly sharp in line with the small plant on the bird's right side. Very nice.

    TTL flash for macro?

I see all the images you posted were shot by TTL, if I am not wrong that Exif shows: " Flash Fired Yes (Auto, return light detected) I think there isn't any exposure issue. I assume you shot all by Manual focus? As you stated, TTL has a big advantage in that you won't waste time for test...

    TTL flash for macro?

Thank you for sharing. I think you have got some good results from using TTL Flash. It would be nice if there were some comparisons between TTL and Manual.

    Maybe switching to MacBook-----

The chipset of my Mac Mini, M2 Pro, is the GPU. (I think it works both CPU and GPU functions) Before 2009, I used 2, 3 PC Windows machines and remembered it was always a pain to OS upgrading and virus attacks... So I plunged and switched to a Mac Mini early-09 model. Since then, I have...

    Maybe switching to MacBook-----

I use Mac mini M2 Pro with 32GB and 512GB SSD 2023 (double external monitors). Everything is smooth and fast (no issue with opening/running multiple photo editing programs at once). I believe for us 32GB is a must for photo editing. I also use external high-speed SSDs for photo...

Breaking down the assassination attempt photos

It looks like the 1/18000" shutter speed still made a "long exposure" of the flying bullet. I wonder if it needs 1/100000" to freeze the bullet... I think the bullet photo will be the best "Action photo" of the year or ever...

Breaking down the assassination attempt photos

#3 (the bullet) amazes me for using 1/18000 shutter speed with no sign of needing it before the shot (or the photographer was expecting the action?). * But I can't really see the bullet in that photo in the video. Can anyone point to the one that shows the bullet?

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

These are great, I especially like the last one (a highlight of the head). My suggestion on focus shifting: set a bigger aperture and run thinner overlap (much more images)—just my 2c.

I was just trying to figure out (and learn) how a small aperture would affect DOF in the case of Macro or close-up images. No criticizing or negative opinion on the picture you posted. AW, some parts of the image not in focus don't always make it bad. If I unconsciously offended you, I apologize.

    Post your dragonflies and bees/wasps

That's true, but it would be a bit far away from the tiny insect where you may not even see/notice it. Surely luck is king.

    Post your dragonflies and bees/wasps

Always wonder how one would compare Macro/close-up images shot by Macro vs telephoto lens?

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

You have the first image shot at f/19 and still can not cover the DOF to the wings and legs (and the nearby follower). Maybe focus stacking is the only way to do it... I often use AF-C to burst moving objects for continuously changing focus... this way I get various images of moving objects...
