    Dancing

I liked the two flowers wrapped in a spiral, but the colors were kinda blah. So I did a b&w of it.

    80 years ago.......

... My grandfather took this image of my dad, my 2 uncles, an aunt and a couple of their friends. I went back to that old address and took a new photo of the house and merged them together.

First outing with my pre-owned Siggy 12-24mm

Found a used Sigma 12-24mm last week, and it arrived via the Magic White Truck today. So I took 'er out for a test-drive this afternoon.

    Shaving a Nikkor Teleconverter

For those who shoot with Nikon, you may have noticed that their current lineup of teleconverters only work with certain lenses. This is due to the fact that the front element of the TC protrudes beyond the lens mounting flange. This can cause it to strike the rear element of many lenses...

First outing with the D7100 and the Tamzooka

It was a bust. Absolutely ZERO birds. Not even evidence of 'em. Probably because they're stuffed with locusts at the moment (the sound was deafening!) The bison ran away no matter what I did. Only the elk cooperated, and they were all bunched together in the water cooling off. So this is...

    D7100 + Tamzooka......... + Nikkor 1.4 TC II = ...............

..........not so bad! Full capture, resized for posting (NO post editing!): 100% crop: (EXIF data will read 600mm as the TC does not adjust the focal length. But this will be, in reality, 840mm. And with the D7100's crop factor, that an equivalent 1260mm FOV.) FYI: My Nikkor TC is...

A Nuts N Bolts Look at the Tamron 150-600 Nikon F mount.

OK, so you've heard about it, and even seen some photos taken with it. But: How about a look 'under the hood' as it were? A close-up of what's on the lens..... The nitty gritty! So let's take a look at it using a Nikkor Micro 105mm f/2.8D AF lens (as opposed to a magnifying glass or...

    What does this sign mean?

Went to a funeral a while back, and the signs on the street were these: NO PARKING THIS SIDE TUES-THURS SAT CHANGE TIME 9 AM Can anyone translate this into something understandable?

My sharpness test results for the Tamron 150-600

I always perform my own sharpness tests on every lens I buy. I take a JPEG at each full aperture the lens is capable of, as well as minimum and maximum apertures. If the lens is a zoom, I repeat the steps for every focal length marked on the barrel. I rate the center and corner sharpness on a...

First real outing with the Tamron 150-600

Some are merely resized, some are cropped heavily (especially the bird shots!), all have been processed with my normal work-flow. Sharpness tests: I was pretty close to these guys. Then it was off to the bird blind.
