Test with the 70-300 f4-5.6G in the first hour I got it:

These were some of my first pictures with the lens to see what I could use it for, my main liking of the lens is the weight: 1/400s with 3200 ISO (if your camera can not do it, you need an other lens): at 300mm and 70mm a thistle

I went for the flowers, but they were not that fresh anymore, however I found this still good with the little extra:

I generally do not like pictures with an overview of flowers, so I thought about it when I saw these and concluded 2 sticking out which I could use on points of the rule of thirds: Not clear how this is called in composition, but if you find anchor points for the rule of thirds I think it works.
