August is macro month for me and I discovered something amazing about macro photography today from a guy (very young) who has had his photos featured hundreds of times in National Geographic. This was my first attempt at putting it into practice. Very pleased with this shot. :) That's me smiling.

And another ant. Just love the gap between the main body and the head. Weird looking things when you look this closely.

Here is one of the ants. Pretty bleak but these guys move so fast. And this photo clearly shows why a second diffuser would be handy. I learn something new every day.

I spent some time this afternoon baiting ants with sugar. Had a lot of fun but never managed to get a whole ant in focus. Either the head or the bum but not the whole. Just as I was packing up Inoticed this tiny little white insect walking about. He must have been less that 1/4 size of the ants...

Some fantastic shots in this thread and I just love the fly from @Ironwood above - very cool shot Brad. Besides great shots there are also some weird looking insects in this world! Here's a crane fly from me. Looks over sharpened but other than a crop I didn't do much.

I went back to it and cropped it some more - which do you think is better Scott Murray ?
