I just picked up a JTL studio lighting kit (2 stands, umbrellas and 85w flourescent bulbs) and their heavy duty background support. Also picked up an inexpensive 6x9 background to start me off. I'm really a landscape guy but I figure investing $350 in studio gear is much smarter than my wife...

I tried Portrait pro and liked the trial, so I sprang for the full version at $49.00. Here is a quick touch up of a snap in front of the tree. Lighting was not great, was for experimentation only, the shadow reducer worked well though!

Can anyone recommend a decent program under $100. I'm not really into portraits but would like some decent software to at least do occasional family shots. The specific issue is that my son suffers from severe acne, whats out there to address this? Thanks for ant input!

Below is a different composition of the same area. This one shows more foreground and water flow. I liked the trees and angle of the horizon on the first. I think the angles of the first add more perspective and dimension to the shot.

Steam Tractor, surrounded by a bunch of stuff so I couldn't really get a good angle. Unfortunately I caught the shadow of some moron's tripod in the second shot!

Anyone have any experience with this lens? I saw a used one at my dealer for $250. Might be fun to mess around with until the 18mm 1.8 comes out.

I decided to get away from a logo on my cards and went with one of my own shots as a background. $22 plus shipping for 500 on premium photo stock at vistaprint. I'll let you know how the quality is when they arrive.

Here's the HDR again, but with the color toned down a bit. I think I like this version better, sometimes I go a little overboard on the color the first time around!
