    7 days off and carless

Well I start my 7 days off again this afternoon, but once again I am carless. So hopefully you guys are not yet sick of my "macro" shots. But if you are I may just put on my 80-400 and go for a walk around the golf course which has a few lakes and hopefully water birds etc in them. Anyway I am...

17inc MBP did I kill it?

Well after a 12 hr night shift I packed up all my gear, when the bus arrived to take me to the airport I slung my camera and laptop bag over my shoulder. BANG. 27inch iMac

My iMac has been delayed due to unforseen circumstances, but it should be delivered withing the next 48hrs (apparently). Good news is that I have been at work. Bad news is I am only home for one day and then have a two day course... But then I will have 5 days off to hopefully enjoy it.

Post your focus stacking photos here

Well I decided to try my hand at focus stacking as I wanted this moths front and rear eyes in focus. This is handheld from two shots, I could have done with a third middle one as its a bit soft there. But this is my very first try. These are the unedited ones. And the finished result.

    Green Tree Ant

What are your thoughts regarding this Green Tree Ant? ISO 100 f/16 1/125sec My intent with this photo was to highlight the protective nature of Green Tree Ants, this was done by a "quick" gentle prod of a nest which they were buidling. The nests are built with leaves and held together by a...

    Experimenting

Well I decided to see if I could make up a "dodgy" flash diffuser to go on my on board flash. All I used was 1 x A3 paper and a couple pieces of sticky tape. Then went out bug hunting. These are not my best but I am fairly happy with my quick and rough set up.

    Macro Flashes

I am considering a dedicated macro flash and cannot work out which would be better, ring flashes or the speedlight version flashes like the Nion R1. Does anyone have any experience with dedicated macro flashes?

    Looking down the barrell

This is the view my bugs get when I am shooting them in macro with my 90mm. Although with their multiple eyes you may want to multiply it by 8 or so lol

    Gecko in leaves

Please share your thoughts regarding this photo, this is the little bugger that was in the tree hollow before, he is very skittish. I have tried to make him stand out while also showing his surrounds. Added 2nd photo after receiving feedback.
