one of the maybe overused techniques is in camera movement,, especially in woods, but who cares! go for it,, give it a whirl,, I like setting my ISO to as low as possible, crank the Fstop to F22 or so,, and try to slow the speed to 1/8th or less,, so that my movement can be registered .. like...

not a bird photographer, but was walking about,, and saw such a cute duck,, well ducks, so,, had to take some photos.. here is few.. such a cool looking duck, could see why some like taking these type of shots can be addictive.
