    Family portraits - please critique

7 pictures from today, I have a few more but came to think about, I'd rather have your critique now, before finishing and mailing the pictures. I am very new at photographing people, but got a lot of good advice in here and really tried to think when I was doing these. Several have been made...

    Lenses for action?

Can you recommend any fast lenses? I would prefer a zoom but are a prime faster? Do you know if 70-300mm are the same/faster/slower as 70-200mm. Would an extension ring do anything to speed? If I was to go for an extra 100mm for my 70-200 (I know it takes a stop or two at aperture).

    Questions about land/cityscaping?

I'm still stuck with photographing landscape - that is, whenever I'm not having a dog in the picture. Seems I'm much better with composition when I got something to composite around. Do you know any good reading stuff? Read a lot in danish, but I still dont get shots I'm happy about. Second...

    Critique/help needed (people portraits)

Every once in a while, Im asked to do a picture with dog and owner together. This makes me panic a little bit, lol. Do you have any idea how I could have made these pictures better? My own thought is, I need to ease up (down actually) with the aperture. But will I get it all sharp then? And...

    12 point system for critique

I read the rules and Im feeling......... wow. Its too much. Maybe I dont know anything about the light in a picture, but I got just 5 words for the composition - wont I be allowed to post then? When I write from my phone, it would take me like 1 hour to get through all those points. I do...

    Different portraits

I did several portraits this weekend, all money went for a dog club (renovation and so on) - I saw this as an excellent chance for some free advertising. Its was pretty successful, I am done with the pictures from saturday and emailed around 35 pictures to different owners (some wanted more than...

    Critique portrait

f/4, iso 400, 1/250 I did a lot of different portraits this weekend, and now Im going through them, gotta send them to the owners. I just wanna hear if you like it, hate it, something in between :) My concern, I guess, are if the post processing are "too much". If the people expect something...

    Homepage or Flickr?

Did my homepage not so long ago on Wordpress as it should work well with Facebook (something with Facebook liking this link-back and therefore show your post in the news feed). But I think the link you get when linking from Wordpress, are annoying, so now I upload 1 picture to Facebook and then...

Anyone can help me saving a HORRIBLE picture?

I very much need help saving a picture, I'll explain on mail (think I need a mail adress to send the NEF file). One is badly underexposed, awfully grainy - the other got more light but aperture 1.4 and its not sharp enough on the people standing behind. Picture were taken inside at...

    Out shooting, change of lenses

Just wondering, when you're out on a job, how often do you change your lenses? Is it 1 lens for this location, move to another spot, change of lens? Im asking because I was out yesterday and even though I had a plan ready, I did a LOT of switches. Thats not a problem, I just thought, if thats...

They said, Sigma are better than Nikkor - 50mm

I wanted to try out the 50mm 1.8 lens, and well, it wasn't THAT expensive so I were planning on buying it. Tried it out for at few shots, and it looked really good - my husband then looked at the Sigma 50mm 1.4 and said to try that too, and sweet guy wanted to pay the difference if I wanted that...

Safety filter for the 12-24mm wideangle

I read this: But looking through mine, I see the hood (which can be removed) /round corners all the way from 12mm to 20+mm. So is it not possible to use anything like UV-filter? Use that for my other lenses, would rather buy a new of those instead of a lens. Dont know if I am misunderstanding...

Are you up for a weekly challenge - fixed aperture

Got an idea for a weekly challenge, which only had 1 rule: fixed aperture every week. First week, the picture have to be taken at the highest aperture, in my case its f/2 so that would be the first. Week 2: f/2,2 Week 3: f/2,5 and so on, until we hit f/22. Pictures can be of anything, dont...
