Milky Way - Bear Lake, Utah

With some guidance from Dave I was able to capture the following shots. Amazingly, a number of the shots were on the 18-55mm kit lens because I wanted to see if I could and I needed the greater width. Others shots were from a 35mm 1.8G Prime.

    Macro lens questions

I would like to get a macro lens for shooting insects and secondary small flowers and such. I am looking at the AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G for my D5100. My question, and I apologize if I explain this poorly as I am venturing into new territory. Bug is 1/4" (.63 cm) in length or smaller...

Loaded her up with some filters and stuff. Her camera body, last part I'm waiting on, will arrive on Friday...

    55-300mm DX

Just got it tonight; unfortunately it was too dark to mess with it. I was not planning on buying it but couldn't pass up the deal. The lens was $399 but marked down to $300 because the lens hood had some apart. Nikon didn't properly attach the outer face that keeps all the springies in place for...

Ogden, UT - Looking through time.

Out here in the west we have a lot of really cool old (by American standards) buildings and history. Ogden, UT is one of my favorites as it blends old with new. I went for a walk-about to capture some of the old paint on the buildings and show everyone this pioneer town. The old buildings in...

35mm 1.8 DX or 50mm 1.8 FX for a D5100 The wife has green lighted me to purchase one of these two lenses. Without dispute they both appear to be great lenses but I have been unable to get one question answered from all my research. For the purpose of my question I will use numbers easier to...

    Portrait

This is my first attempt at a portrait. I posed my daughter and then shot the picture. I know the background was not ideal but had to work with what I had. My intended background was overrun with a soccer game. Please give feedback.
