Nasty little critters Megalopyge opercularis. In Texas these caterpillars are commonly known as “asps”. When an asp moth caterpillar rubs or is pressed against skin, venomous hairs stick into the skin causing a severe burning sensation and rash.

The ladybug was a bonus.

Pretty sure this qualifies as heavy equipment.

Took a ride up to the Hagerman NWR which is about an hour away from where I live. I haven't been there in a while. What was most surprising was how low the water level is in the wetlands areas. On my last visit, water was pretty close to the roads in most places so the birds were also much closer.
