What lens should I mount for my trip? (POLL)

I'm leaving for my 1200 mile migration to Cleveland next Saturday morning. The trip is mainly freeways, but the occasional photo-op occurs every once in a while. I'll have my D800 on the passenger seat during the trip. Which lens do you think I should have mounted for the spur of the moment photo?

    My 80-400VR Arrived!

WHEW!!!!!!!!!! After the last couple of days of testing out my new 80-400VR, I was kind of disappointed. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has made a purchase, only to realize it was the wrong choice. I was starting to think I had a fairly expensive boat anchor. But, I kept reading and...

    My 80-400VR Arrived!

In reality, it was darker out than these photos show. I was a considerable distance away. And I was using a CP filter. Let me add that I am not pleased with these 3 photos and I am only posting them as examples. Could they have been done better. Yes.

    My 80-400VR Arrived!

This is a 7 frame panorama. It is 66" by 8". This is a 100% crop of the pano. For my needs, this lens will work well. No need for instant focus, I don't shoot birds, and I won't use a TC with this lens.

Nikkor 80-200/2.8.... my "new" portrait lens.

With my 80-400VR coming tomorrow, I had to decide what to do with my 2-ring 80-200. Just as I was about to throw it in the garbage can, I thought, "What about using it as a portrait lens?" I've decided to keep it. This is ISO 6400.

I just drank the first dose.

You know the stuff. Tomorrow, you'll be able to pick me up and look right through me like a rifle bore. Yep. Stem to stern. Then, tomorrow afternoon, the doctor is going to insert a Toyota up my butt. I'm hoping it's a Prius and not an Avalon.

The Chicken Came Back...... But Better!

I walked out my door and was I surprised! I don't know if she flew up or walked up the stairs. I grabbed my camera (wrong lens) for a run-n-gun. My neighbor wasn't phased in the least.

FINI! Anti-Flare Tri/Mono Pod Umbrella Mount

Picked up the umbrella today. I will remove the umbrella's chair mount (white at the bottom of the handle) for more flexability.

FINI! Anti-Flare Tri/Mono Pod Umbrella Mount

I'm pleased with the resulting mount system. I had to do some grinding and adjusting, but it works like a champ! I will use a very lightweight umbrella like the ones you mount to a beach chair. It is fully adjustable to any angle and will keep the sun off the lens. I won't use it until I go...
