First fruits of my wildflower "field".

Got a few more today. I noticed more insects active in the patch, and another species started flowering. I'm thinking this may work out for macro work.

Well, whether it's genetic, or teaching, either way I come out smelling like a rose.

The Pup cleaned up in local photo contest

My daughter entered several images in the 50th anniversary photo contest at the Francis Beidler Forest, a local Audubon park we occasionally visit to take wildlife/nature photos. She managed to snag an honorable mention, 2nd place and even a 1st place. Dad is properly proud.

I've considered a focusing rail. Not sure I'd use it enough to justify the cost, and the hassle of carrying a tripod around. Still, it looks like it would make tripod mounted macro so much easier. Unfortunately, I've already spent my Father's Day currency on helping to get the Z7ii, and my...

First fruits of my wildflower "field".

This guy seems to be a frequent flyer. I also saw a native bee, and another larger species of wasp. Neither stuck around long enough to get a shot at them. There are some other flower species that look like they are going to bloom soon. They look like they may be more stable than the ones in the...

    Dilemma

MPB currently has the 24-120 F4G ED VR in Excellent condition for around $400. I made the switch to mirrorless 2 years ago, and never looked back. Of course, I had an entry level DSLR and two low end DX kit lenses, so there wasn't a lot to walk away from. If you are planning on being active in...

First fruits of my wildflower "field".

I was looking at my "wildflower field" and decided that one of the species looked familiar. I picked a leaf and crushed it for the smell test. I looked up the species list for the mix of seeds I sowed, and sure enough, Sweet Basil was in the list. They are looking tasty, and I may co-opt...

This one wins on pure "cute" factor. BTW, that is the Pup's words, not mine.

First fruits of my wildflower "field".

Earlier this year, I planted a small section of my backyard with wildflower seeds. I was hoping to attract insects for macro photography without having to drive an hour round trip to my favorite macro spot. I think I should have prepared more ground and spread the seeds more widely to have a...

    Anyone making slideshows?

Don't know if anyone is interested, but I thought I'd give an update on how the slideshows are going. I have since uploaded a total of 11 slideshows to Youtube. Most of my vids have garnered only 50 views each, more or less. I have one that is the star and is still growing with over 700 views...

Thanks all. I love trips to this beach, despite having to get up REALLY early in the morning for most of the trips.
