I think I have left the fields blank when it comes to exif data. I need to look into this (am using darktable). Yes, good point about the VR / IS. I used a tripod on the pier photo and resting on a platform for the river, so similar to a tripod. They look fine on the tiny screen but do come...

Thanks all - good commentary! Apologies for the double upload (#1 and #4) - lags in performance mean that I think it hasn't uploaded so do it again and then an image shows up twice. Regarding the sharpness, I am still trying to find out why that occurs. Camera body and lens are good quality so...

Tips on Capturing Sports Moments with Nikon Gear

Good tips - thanks! I have shot a fair bit of sport (amateur) and have, through a trial and error process, gravitated towards all of your tips. The only additional tips that I would add is A) to get in a good position where lighting is favourable but to also move around to mix up the...

am running the 685 as well. If the next 10 YT videos don't enlighten me, I might reach out to see how you are doing it. Frankly, I don't use them often but I know they are part of the "secret" for getting better images.

January 2025 Monthly Assignment: Wood and/or Metal

this is my first submission to Nikonites! Please forgive me if I make an error - am keen to learn and work in with the group :) I dont know if the image has the relevant data built-in so here goes: 3 January 2025, Nikon Z8 Aperture: f/6.3 Shutter Speed: 1/100s (Electronic Shutter)...

    New Nikon fan

Ha! To be fair, I only referenced the 7500 as "old" because I have had it for a few years, in fact bought it when it was a near-new release. I think all the Nikon crop sensor lines are good - have seen some great images from 3XXX and 5XXX series.
