    My first wedding

Daz is coming over to Scotland to help me with the wedding, so there will be two of us. More importantly, Daz has experience in weddings, so I hope to learn from him. Anyway, thank you again, Daz! In the meantime, B&G asked me to take a picture of their fancy knife they want to cut the wedding...

My first wedding: is 50-150 f/2.8 appropriate?

And here is my attempt on a 'formal' picture. I don't have any backgrounds and at the venue I might only have a bare white wall. Should I invest in a background for the real thing? For this shot I had two YN565EX on reflective umbrellas. One high to the right, the other just next to the camera...

My first wedding: is 50-150 f/2.8 appropriate?

This is a part of My First Wedding thread. I took a few snapshots of bride and groom at home, using Sigma 50-150 f/2.8. This was supposed to be a trial for the hotel eating/dance floor shots. I'm not entirely pleased with them. I just wonder if this is the right lens to use indoors. On the...

    My first wedding: the hotel

    My first wedding: the hotel

This is a continuation of my First Wedding thread. This is the venue for the day and evening reception. Any particular advice on setting up lights, using on-camera flash, lenses? An overview. There are two levels. This is the lower level. There are white ceilings on both sides (might be useful...

    My first wedding

I have been asked to do friends' wedding in May. I don't have any experience in wedding photography and very limited experience in portrait photos. I'm afraid I'm going to be pesky and ask a lot of questions! I thought I'd rather divide them into separate topics for clarity. I apologise in...

It is not a potato, it is an old picture and I presented it here before, but there you are:

    Post your birds (2)

After a long (too long!) break I got out and took some pictures eventually. Similar to Mike's: birds on a frozen lake.

Help please banding on the 810 and 85mm 1:4 lens

Is this "banding" you have in mind? I just loaded your image into Photoshop and saved it as JPEG with lowest possible quality. This dramatically exaggerated the compression artefacts.
