    Post your Birds in Flight

Re: Bird in Flight I sat with my eye glued to the viewfinder for 20 minutes to get this one! PS: Does anyone else think that looks like a sculpture of Rod Stewart on its left wing? :D

    Post your spiders

Re: spiders Hi! Just got back after some time away due to a number of reasons (mild winter meant no birds on my bird table, slow and horrible death of my laptop and problems logging in here with my new one). Spring is now here and the place is teeming with small creatures. This is a photo from...

    Computer art

Is it possible for a computer to create art? Many have tried and many more will follow, installing algorithms to produce random images. However, is it possible for a computer to produce art without any human input at all? Technically no but my laptop met one of those strange conditions generally...

Someone was paid to do that!

I thought it would be fun to start a thread where people can post photos of the seemingly ridiculous things they come across in everyday life. The sort of things which make you wonder how anyone could have done it and who ordered it in the first place and have you grabbing for your camera to...

    Post your 'ALMOST' Photos..

Nursery Web spider. This is focus stacked from two shots. Unfortunately it scuttled off before I could get a third focused on its eyes.

    Photoshop and filters

For those of us old enough to remember the early days of Photoshop, it was memorable for two things: firstly it was horribly expensive and secondly it had filters. I was first introduced to it when given a pirated version of PS3 in 99 but quickly became legal when I received 5.5 bundled with a...

    Viewing posted photos

I suppose like many on the forum, I only want my best shots to be posted and have put aside fairly decent photos because they don't fit the 100% criterium. By that I mean photos which look great at 50 or 66% in Photoshop but which, at 100%, show signs of being out of focus. Are we being paranoid...

    5 months in

I had originally intended to post a blog to celebrate my first 6 months on Nikonites but, as today is somewhat miserable outside and not conducive to constructive photography, I decided to advance matters by one month on this, the 5th "mensiversary" (::what::) of my arrival on the forum. Back...

    Post your Insect shots

I'd given up hope of seeing one of these this year but, when I returned to work this afternoon, this guy was sitting outside the workshop door and then proceeded to walk in. Hung about all afternoon. :D

    Post your spiders

Re: spiders Tried shooting this gal several times with 40mm with 20+12 rings without any luck. As a last desperate attempt I put the Raynox in front of it. Bingo! D3100, 40mm with 12+20mm rings + Raynox DCR-250 f/10, 1/10th sec, ISO 800 Built-in flash.

    Post your Insect shots

Came across this tiny spider today. It's just an ordinary garden spider but what was impressive was its size. From the end of its front legs to the back of its body it was about 3mm long. Only noticed it because it was lurking on a white curtain. Taken with the 40mm and 12+20mm tubes, I am...

    Post your Insect shots

Received my macro rings today. It rained no-stop so didn't get a chance to try them out. Fortunately at 6pm as I was finishing work the rain ended and I found this little guy. 40mm Micro with 12+20mm rings. Interesting days ahead with the rings and the Raynox :couple_inlove:
