Post your focus stacking photos here

Already posted this shot in the insects thread but I thought it deserved its place here as well. Photos like this just seem totally unreal as we never see anything like them in everyday life. A subject in focus with the background totally blurred. It almost looks like 3D CGI.

Fly blowing bubble. Nobody knows why they do this but it seems to be a common occurrence. 45mm + 36mm macro ring

Are insects getting wise to cameras? This little guy was sitting happily, then I took a couple of shots. He then moved round a bit and sat quite still while I took another series of shots. Then he moved again to this better position and didn't move while I took the 8 photos used in this stack...

Hoverfly eyeing up its target. Uncropped 55mm + 36mm macro ring. (yes, I don't quite believe it either - but true!) ::what:: Edit: Eupeodes luniger male.

    Post your macro photos here

I decided today to try out the kit lens with a macro ring. This is taken at 55mm + 36mm ring. Looks like this could be a good compromise for those who don't want to invest in a prime macro lens. :D

Marne-Rhine Canal, France In the days before all canal barges were motorised, a narrow-gauge railway was built along the canal to tow the barges. A number of the former battery-powered locos are exhibited in various ports along the way.

A group of swallows has decided that the fluorescent lights in our workshop would be an ideal place to make their nests. Don't know if the alarms will agree with that. :D Hirundo rustica - Barn Swallow

I've found a patch of ground literally infested by Wolf Spiders. There are hundreds of females carrying egg sacs, all in the space of a few square metres/yards. Promises great shooting opportunities when the young hatch. :)

    Post your Insect shots

Today is a big day for me as it is exactly a year since I received my D3100. Suddenly, for the first time in my life, I could start to get interested in nature photography and macro in particular. It's possible to see how I've advanced in the latter through my photos in this thread and the...

    Post your Insect shots thread

Would it be possible for the mods to either make this thread a sticky in the "Learning Photography" forum or transfer it into 'Wildlife" where it rightfully belongs? It is the most used thread in LP (apart from Flowers, which is a sticky) and I'm sure that newcomers have difficulty finding it...

Aphid. PS: the reason some of my latest photos all have the same background is because I have to cross a bridge 4 times a day and these are creatures I find on the guardrail. :D
