Fine tuning a lens for the D7100

or any other camera for that matter ... Am I fine-tuning the lens to match the camera or am I fine-tuning the camera to match a lens? The reason I ask is if I decide to sell a "tuned" lens should I reset it to "0" or does it make no difference on the next body that it will be used on?

    Back-up Overload

Today I discovered that my external hard drive that I use for Back-ups was full. It took me all of 6 hours to send the older back-ups to trash. I've never had this issue before as I was under the impression I was deleting previous back-ups straight after the current backup. This seems not to be...

    Blank list that needs filling

Not sure why I can' seem to shake this need but ... assuming you had no lenses at all and ... you had a blank piece of paper with 4 lines on it that needed filling. On those four llines you could write down the 4 lenses you would buy for your Nikon D7100 knowing what you know now. What...

    A complete revamp

I am thinking - and that is financially dangerous! My current collection of lenses: Nikkor 35mm f1.8G Tamron SP AF 90mm f2.8 Di Macro 1:1 Nikkor AF-S 18-105mm 3.5-5.6G ED Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm 4.5-5.6G ED I am thinking of replacing the latter two with: Nikon 50mm f1.8D Tamron 70-200 f2.8...

Nikon ED AF Nikor 80-200 f2.8

How good is this lens? I am shooting a D7100 with built in focus motor but presumably it won't focus on this and manual focus is the only option. its the old telescopic (push pull) action type.

    50mm f1.8D or 50mm AF-S f1.8G

Using a d7100 and wanting to shoot portraits ... I have a 35mm prime and my 90mm macro - should I also get a 50mm? If so which one of the two? And then of course I also want a wide angle - probably more pressing than the above - this one for potential real estate photography and milky way stuff.

    McFun Intensify

Does anyone know if this is any good? I have been offered it for free - well of course there is no such thing as free. Free is the bait that hides the hook. Will I need extra RAM for example? Does it operate smoothly with LR and PSCC? Have to squeeze the trigger soon for the "free"

    Scott Murray

Hi guys/gals. Not sure if you are aware but Scott has had a bad accident and was apparently lucky to survive. I have no details other than he is in hospital. Let's all let him know we are thinking of him.

Having to bite my tongue ...

A couple of months ago I started working in a brick and mortar camera shop. I am really enjoying being around cameras and talking to people about them all day but I have to be very careful about what I say. We don't stock Yongnuo gear and I really rate their speedlights. I find it very hard to...

    Raynox DCR 250

I'm in the market for one of these (or happy to listen to alternative suggestions) for use with my Tamron 90mm macro. Two questions: 1. Do I need to buy a specific size or does the "one-size-fits-all" rule apply? 2. Anyone in New Zealand know where I can source one locally? Thanks in advance.

    Yongnuo User Manuals

I've seen a few requests regarding Yongnuo gear and complaints about the user manuals. Here is a page where you can download User Manuals for Various Models. Hope it helps someone.

    Mr Yongnuo - Tim Payne

I came across this guy during my Internet meanderings and he is an incredibly helpful and knowledgeable guy when it comes to Yongnuo flashes. For those living in the USA I strongly suggest you contact him for relevant advice and hopefully purchases. He lives in Arkansas and after helping me I...

    Discriminating against photogrpahers

Hopefully this hasn't been posted before. Its along the lines of what happened to Scott Murray a while back. The world has gone crazy. I love the line "So we have to play to pay on our public land. I wonder what our forefathers would have said to that." Photographer Wants to End...

    Bracketing button?

Just going through my manual and cannot figure what the bracketing (BKT) button does. David Busch's Field Guide says: "Hold down and rotate the front and rear command dials to adjust settings for exposure and white balance bracketing." I've tried this and don't see what they are getting at...

    Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8

Here's an interesting video comparing the above lens to the Nikon range of primes. Hopefully this is news to some and not history! https://fstoppers.com/gear/testing-sigma-18-35mm-f18-against-nikons-f18-primes-65901

    Firmware Update?

Just wondering what the latest firmware version for the D7100 is. When I go into mine it says; "C 1. 02 L 2. 005 Done OK" I can't highlight either of the first 2 lines Is there a newer firmware and if so how do I update? Thanks to anyone who can help

    Proud to announce ...

No - I am not a new grandfather. I entered 2 photos in our National competition (Natex) - the top photographers in NZ enter this annual event and it is apparently quite prestigious to get accepted. There were 1847 photos entered in 2 different categories - Open and Nature - and then 2 sub...

Sunpak GX14, Nikon D7100 and Yongnuo RF 603N

Quite a title ... I have this combination and want to know how to work out what the flash sync speed is. Is it the same as my built in flash or do I need to make some sort of adjustment?

    Texture

I have been struggling with finding something different that fits with the theme of this month's competition which is "texture' I saw this weeping wound on a tree and think it has potential. Been at it all day and can't see the wood for the trees now. So I would like opinions. My gut tells me...
