    Hark 2019

Three from today. One is a female red-winged blackbird - might even be the same one I asked about the other day. It was also taken at the same park in the same area. Next up is a Robin. And this is either a moth or a butterfly. Since the body is somewhat thick, I'm guessing a moth.

This is another shot of the female Red-Winged Blackbird. I had trouble accepting the ID the other day because the females we get in our yard aren't quite so prominently streaked. And here is a robin. It must have recently taken a bath. Looks like it is sporting a mohawk. ;)

Can you help ID this bird please?

That's definitely a better resemblance in the beak than many of the images I've viewed. Here's mine for comparison. Thanks!

Can you help ID this bird please?

I think I've identified it after reading this article. It looks like the mystery bird in their pics. The shape of the beak is the same as is the streaking. It looks like a juvenile cowbird. We get cowbirds at our feeder, but I've never seen one looking like this...

Can you help ID this bird please?

I am trying to ID this bird. I'm in Pennsylvania outside of Philly. When I searched via the Merlin app, the closest thing it looks like is a Song Sparrow from the Pacific Northwest - but that's on the other side of the country. It looks too striped to be a song sparrow that is normally found...

    ON1 for resizing

Yesterday I shot this image and decided to experiment. This is a screen shot of the original NEF: This first edit was cropped down to a size of @ 5.1" x 7.1" from an FX sensor: So I took the psd file from my first edit above and went into ON1 Resize 10 to experiment. I enlarged it from...

After getting the Nikon 24-70mm f/4 VR lens last fall (and being really impressed by it), I seriously started looking at the Nikon 70-200mm f/4 VR to replace my Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR. The IQ of the 70-200mm is better although it comes at a loss of focal length. However, I already have a...

    Filter advise or app

You could print out an exposure chart and carry it in your bag. Just take a reading of the sky and another of the ground then figure out the difference. This one covers f/stop, shutter speed, and ISO stops.

    Juvenile Green Heron

    Hark 2019

A juvenile green heron at the park this afternoon. The bird was so dark in color, initially I thought it was a cormorant. When I got a better look at it, I realized it must be some type of heron. It flew off before I was able to get too close. Both images are cropped somewhat. I'm still amazed...

    ProMaster Tripods..

I also don't think it looks like it is worth the money. Buying a decent tripod on a limited budget is tough. This Vanguard tripod looks promising and is on sale for $99.99 - regularly $179.99. Load capacity is 17.6 pounds. Weight is 3.7 pounds. Height isn't all that great at 59" but for the...
