    Hark 2020

Yesterday while photographing this scarecrow, an older couple stopped to talk. The man carried a Nikon D810 with a MagSphere on an attached flash. He mentioned seeing a thin bird house with a really small hole and said a hawk was sitting on top. I knew he meant one of the bat houses (made by a...

    Post your Squirrel pictures

I used to photograph a trusting squirrel I named Wilson but haven't seen him in months. This one has a long tail - almost as long as Wilson's - which makes me wonder if it is a sibling. First I posted this image on Facebook but realized I cropped off part of the tail's length. So I went back...

    focusing ALL product image?

I use a cell phone app that shows the DoF based on the body, focal length of the lens, aperture , and distance from camera to subject. Since I don't know all the exact specifics, I chose a Nikon DX body, 55mm lens, and f/16 as the specs to use as the example below being 12" away from the subject...

    VR Stopped Working 200-500mm

Have you tried flipping this switch to the other VR mode? I've used both. Both cause problems on my 300mm f/4 PF. One makes the image jump. The other doesn't always lock on. Consider giving it a try to see if you can squeeze out a little more time with the lens. It just might work better than...

    Injured Deer

Saw three deer grazing today - this was one of them. It stayed put so I didn't see it walk, but it clearly looks like something hit it. I'm trying to see if there is a wildlife rescue that would be able to go there. I haven't heard of any locally that would but hopefully someone will be able to...

    Sep. 2020 Theme: Happy

Entry #1 Veterans make me happy. This was a chance encounter with a 92-year old WWII Navy Veteran. He was in the Amphibious Corps where they dropped Marines at a beach in Japan. He was sitting on the shopping cart corral when I returned my cart today.

    Hark 2020

Here is another memorial bench I photographed today. For some reason, I hadn't saved the file as a jpeg...only as a PSD.

    Hark 2020

This is the new design for memorial benches at this park. Previously the benches were made out of wood slats on concrete bases, but the wood slats weathered, splintered, and in some instances broke. This appears to be made out of a wood-look type of resin.

    Angel Wing in Geese/Ducks

Yesterday I posted one of these images in a Facebook photo group and was told the goose might have Angel Wing (it also goes by other names). It is a deformity caused by nutritional deficiencies which makes the wings grow outwards rather than to lie flat against their bodies. It can leave them...
