    How important is bokeh anyway?

Often mis-understood to represent the creamy, blurred background, how much better is 'good' bokeh? Fstoppers posted an interesting spin on it this week. Worth the few minutes of reading. https://fstoppers.com/education/bokeh-and-portraits-why-i-just-dont-care-71102

Blew the dust off my Minolta XG1 a couple of months back. Since then I added a Minolta X-700 SLR and Yashica Electro 35 GSN Rangefinder to the photo shelf. Shot three rolls of 35mm film thus far, sharing the results below. See the 35mm film galleries on Flickr here...

    Amazing collection of wildlife photographs

A friend shared this link with me today. Some great captures here! One tick for the benefit of using a watermark of some kind, especially on one of a kind images. They might end up shared on a site like this with no credit or way of someone to reach the photographer. Cool, Amazing and...

Nick Fancher talks about being a resourceful portrait photographer

Great read today on Scott Kelby's blog/site "The idea behind the book is that photographers can get away with shooting without a conventional studio most of the time, as long as they can learn to make the most of their environments; all with the use of minimal, affordable gear." It’s Guest...

Do you discharge your NiMH batteries?

My Watson 8-bay Rapid Charger arrived. I'm charging my eneloops now (AmazonBasics Black AA should arrive soon). This charger has a 'discharge' feature. Is this recommended each time you charge or to do periodically? Thanks!

Post your retro looking camera straps

I'm shopping for a retro looking camera strap for my rangefinder. Not going with the cliche 'hippie' design 2" strap look. I'd prefer something thin and made in the USA like Lance Camera Straps | Braided leather and cord camera straps. Handmade in the USA. or TAP & DYE | Leather Camera Strap |...

    Yashica Electro 35 GSN arrived

GSN arrived! Battery included (Energizer E164). Power light is green, shutter fires every time. Self timer works. Only issue (I think) is turning the aperture ring does not open/close the aperture within the lens. Should it work like a SLR lens?

    D7100 is finally gripped

Finally gripped the D7100. Still unable to score a deal on a used MB-D15 for under $140 or so. Being the new D7200 shares the grip, I don't see the used prices coming down too much anytime soon. A friend had a second XIT Grip he bought and never used. Took that off his hands today. Since I...
