I didn't use a tripod but the composition is the same 99.9% and therefore it shouldn't affect the exposure. I no longer have the pictures taken with D750 but I have similar results with my Coolpix A. These are 0EV, -2EV, and -3EV, respectively:

Based on the DPreview's studio test scene for the usable high ISO range from 6400 to 25600 I think D750 is up there with the top guys, if not better (see attached photos).

I've never tried at ISO-12,800 but I have quite a few photos taken at ISO-6400 and I'm quite happy with them even without doing noise reduction with software. With my previous D7000 the max ISO for my usable photos was 1600.
