I've noticed many posts have more than one reply, but zero views, a seeming contradiction. Is it a software issue?

    A Starburst of Colors

Normally, fisheyes aren't the go-to choice for close-ups. Especially circulars. But they can be pressed into service for some interesting viewpoints. Comments welcome!

    Thursday Morning Walk-About (image Heavy!)

Yep. One advantage of being single and self-employed: I can go take photos whenever I damned well want to. So after a quick service call this morning, I headed down to the pedestrian bridge and a nearby pagoda.

First real outing with my new Siggy 15mm fisheye

Got to spend some time this morning and try out my new Sigma 15mm 2/8 fisheye as the sun started to warm things up today. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

    Lens data in EXIF

So where does Nikon hide the actual lens information itself in the EXIF data? When I use most any EXIF reader, I can find the focal length very easy. But finding the actual lens used.......... that's another story. The only place I can find that gives me this information is View and Capture...

    This afternoon's Walk-About

Decided to play hookey from work this afternoon. Mainly because it a -7°F last week, and today was 68°F. Screw work. Hasn't been that warm since November. So I parked on the south edge of downtown, strapped on a pair of D600s, popped on the 24-120/4 and 70-200/2.8 and started hoofing it...

    Elements and Groups

Kinda wondering what the purpose of knowing the number of elements and groups of a lens is needed. All the manufacturers state this in their lens' specs, but....... why? What purpose does it serve? Can you tell the difference between a FlareMaster lens 25-75 f/4 compared to a Pincushion King...

    Bison, dragon and squirrel

Weather was finally condusive to try and get the bison out at the local park in the snow. However, they were so far away, this is the best I could get. So I headed home, and stopped to take a shot of a dragon. (Scared you, didn't I? Hehe!) I resigned myself to shooting the...

    Todays' photoshoot

Met up with a fellow shooter today. We were going to go to a bird blind and try our hand at birding, but the road was closed. I always say, "When life hands you lemons, you don't make lemonade. Make roast duck with a olive oil, basil and lemon glaze..... because it has a better profit...

Crazy, wacky and just plain dumb late/no-show excuces.

Yep, we've all heard them! Outrageous excuses for someone being late or not showing up for work. Let's hear 'em. My favorites (for being late): "I had a heart attack on my way in and pulled over until it passed." (For a no-show): "I couldn't fit my bag of chips into my lunch cooler so I...

    I..... am a plagiarist!

I have recently discovered I am a copycat. And I don't just copy any random persons' work. I copy images that my father and grandfather have taken. But the odd part is, I never knew their images existed until I started to scan & digitize the old family photos. What a discovery to find...

    Stop. Just STOP. (Mild rant)

In scanning my dad's old Kodachrome slides from the '50s and '60s, what wonderful memories they stir up in me as I look at myself as a 3-year-old at Disneyland, or at 8 standing in the waters of the Atlantic south of Miami picking up sand dollars. The railway at Pike's Peak in Colorado. The...

    A-Birding I Will Go......

A-Birding I Will Go...... (don't expect much!) So this morning I thought I check out a bird blind at a local park. Being winter, I fully expected it to have empty, desolate feeders. I pulled off the road to see no human-made tracks. As I made my way back to the blind...

    Hell On Earth

Been scanning old family photos, and came across this shot my Dad took out west somewhere right after a forest fire swept through.
