First real outing with the Tamron 150-600

Some are merely resized, some are cropped heavily (especially the bird shots!), all have been processed with my normal work-flow. Sharpness tests: I was pretty close to these guys. Then it was off to the bird blind.

Well, it was only a matter of time!

Before IT happened. IT being what happened to me tonight. I got a nice used copy of a Nikkor 20/2.8D AF in the mail the other day, and decided to take it on a test run at a nearby courthouse. I like this one because it's full of detail and is a good test subject. It's also in my home town...

What's so special about Groups and Elements

One thing that I've never figured out is what's so special about a lens' Groups and Elements? Why do manufacturers even bother to list them? What purpose does such a specification serve? Suppose I'm shopping for a new 50mm f/0.45 lens. I've narrowed down my choices to the FlareMaster and the...

First 'test' of my Nikkor 135/2.8 Ai

    Nikkor 135/2.8 Ai-S: Don't count it out!

Recently received a used and rather dirty / beat up Nikkor 135mm f/2.8 Ai-S lens. I didn't have much hope for it looking at it closely. Had more than it's share of front-element scratches, both from use and cleaning, and lots of internal dust. But toss it on a camera, and HOLY COW!.... was I...

    Post your Crepuscular Rays shots

Now that I have your attention: Crepuscular Rays are the columns or shafts of light caused by light striking airborne particles. Since there's no thread for these, (sometimes called Gods' Rays), time to start one up!
