Day 5 -- Stache Stache is a 14-year old rescue cat that we adopted when he was a wee small kitten. :) This is my fifth photo for the challenge. I'd appreciate not being nominated until it's a better time for me. Admittedly I stink with conversion as it isn't something I ever tried prior to...

Day 4 -- Another shot of Micah--taken today Fortunately she is a willing model--actually she was quite taken with my 105mm lens and wanted to give it a good sniff! ;) And of course I let her since it was a small price to pay.

Day 3 -- Van Sant Covered Bridge I didn't have time to photograph anything today so here is one taken this past October--not edited previously. Last year I think I took a similar shot with my D90 as my D600 was out for repair. This year I had my D610 and really wanted a full-frame shot. Edited...

This is Micah--the latest rescue cat we adopted this past September. She is enjoying her new life here. There is an organization in North Carolina that makes pets available for local rescue agencies to promote for adoption by raising money so cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies get transported up...

Day 2 -- Japanese Birch Tree Taken yesterday at a local hospital's courtyard--I was captivated by the bark of this tree. The garden they built is absolutely gorgeous.

Yesterday marked 11 years since we adopted this kitten Cherub. I was feeding the mother cat (which was feral) for a couple of months when one day she brought this kitten along. Cherub was so loving and sweet that we adopted both his mother and him. Sadly his mother died several years ago from an...

Yesterday my mother and I had doctor appointments--his office is connected to a hospital that has a courtyard--so with her wheelchair and backpack of necessities, I limited myself to one lens (18-35mm f/3.5-4.5). As we were leaving the courtyard, I spotted a few trees with very unusual bark and...

Day 1 - Cherub Taken yesterday. He is an orange and white tabby that I adopted 11 years ago yesterday. He was a stray kitten living outside at the time, and I adopted his mother (Angel) as well. Got the hue/saturation sliders figured out, Jake. Not sure what was going on last night, but...

Since you have two photos, you do have the option to merge them together. I did a quick edit by starting with the original then extended the bottom of the canvas. Then I cropped the second photo by selecting the bottom part with the walkway and grass, then pasted it onto the extended canvas of...

Re: Better B&W Conversion Using Multiple Hue/Saturation Layers in Photoshop & Element @BackdoorHippie I just tried going through this process but got stuck early on. I added the two Hue Saturation layers, but neither layer displays the wheel icon. I changed the blend mode to color for the one...

You definitely want to determine what the shutter speed is BEFORE you mount the filter. If you have a chance, please consider making a copy of this chart and keep it in your bag. The chart comes from this link: http://jimdoty.com/learn/exp101/exp_big3/110519_shutter_speeds_j6.jpg You want to...

Here are a couple more from this afternoon's outing. I've said it before, but it is worth repeating...this fall has been one of the most color I can ever remember. Normally we get at least one big storm which blows the leaves off the trees early, but this year many leaves are still holding on. :)

This afternoon I went back to the park to work on the tiny planet project that Jake posted. While photographing a series of photos to turn into a panoramic shot, this horse drawn hayride came down the walking path. Although I didn't have the walking path in my composition, I really couldn't...

If you have some type of post processing software, you should be able to adjust the perspective on the first building like I did here. And I removed some of the shadows and added a little contrast. When you use the perspective correction option, it will crop your photo some so you need to allow...

I'm glad it helped. Wasn't sure if it would as I don't use a mouse that has a tilt wheel--found I was doing all kinds of crazy things when I didn't really want to! And @BackdoorHippie will be happy to find out I'm really good with doing searches. ;) This was literally the very first...

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I was away for a while, and since I've been back, he's been gone. Hey @gqtuazon where are thou?

After reading about the weekly assignment titled earth, I felt the best way to represent the earth is with a circular fisheye lens. The problem is I don't own one and don't think I'd use one enough to justify getting one. So I looked online to see if it was possible to create a fisheye effect...

Earth: When thinking through what I wanted to convey in my image, I wanted to include as many key features of what the earth contains Water: approximately 70% of the earth's surface is water which is why the majority of my photo represents this Land: another key feature of the earth Living...

A few weeks ago, I decided to photograph Bowman's Tower with my Nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 lens. It accepts 77mm filters. Since I didn't have a Circular Polarizer filter in 77mm, I decided to use a step up ring and mount my 82mm Sigma slim CP. This was my first time doing so. What I didn't do was...

This photo showed up on my Facebook timeline (I added the arrow)...someone caught me in their photograph. My church sponsored an event to bag beans and rice that will get shipped overseas. Usually I'm the one behind the camera. The caption with the photo states Got the camera woman that time.
