Leaf stuck in ice. Bird winter condo And our cat posing again in a sun ray

The joys of winter just to remind my friends who recently moved south what they are missing (Pat)

It's in the winter that my inukshuk looks the best, the top rock with a snow cap almost looks human.

Went for my first ski day today with the ricoh. Very difficult to see what's on the screen, but pics are not too bad.

Today is still very cold, -25C. But I decided to go and have a look over the river a bit farther than where I live. Got the Df out for about 15 minutes without any problem. Not the same with my fingers though... :) Few shots from different perspectives.

Not as nice as yesterday's, but I did get out of the car for this shot at -28 C this morning. And only had the X-10 with me.

This is how it's been done so far. Counting the likes from all members removes a lot of pressure on the Mods, but just counting them, grabbing the winning shots and them re-posting them can be time consuming some months, specially depending on the amount of posts. This is why we had asked people...

At -23 C, I'm not going out with the camera so I took this one from the kitchen window. Caught in winter:

Congratulations to JPar, Zilla, nikonpup, Just-Clayton and AxeMan-Rick S. for winning the December Kitsch decoration challenge. The selection was made using the number of likes received by participants and a bit of my personal taste as well. I hope all of you had a good time taking shots for...

I know Rick and understand your point about not starting in time. I'm just begging other mods to take their turns and ask who can do it for january and I get no response. I asked the question the last week of December and so far haven't heard of anyone else that wants to do it. It leaves me with...

Project 365 is very different because we can post whatever we want. Having a monthly subject fores us to go out of our comfort zone and experiment more IMHO. I don't agree with you on your last phrase. I think that the best thing for learning is practice. Winning doesn't make anyone better...

Re: Fuji X10. Yes I know it's not a Nikon As I'm having a day with my grand daughter, we played outside and she wanted to go up a tree, I grabbed the X-10 for this snapshot. I'm always amazed at the skin tones this little camera can produce.

That's interesting because this highlighting of the "more than 10 likes" is new. So I guess it could apply. What bugs me most is the "winner" thing. I'm against having a "winner" because this forum is all about learning and practicing, not winning. Art is something that is really hard to judge...

Of course I'd love to hear other Mods thoughts about this proposition.

How would you guys feel if we only had a theme to propose and we would forget the "competition and winner" thing? It could just be a theme per month that could be a sticky thread where everyone would be encouraged to try and practice. This way, the moderation and posting and judging and...

I'm still here, but I'd love to see other mods get involved as well. Does that answer your question?

Maybe about like this:

Maybe if we'd have suggestions and a consensus to determine the 12 subjects (1 per month), and more Mods to post the assignment and selection...
