Re: March 2014 Monthly Assignment - Abstract "Post entries only, NO COMMENTS please" The Ancients

This is the northern most section of the Beartooth mountain range. The highway that leads to the northeastern entrance to Yellowstone park, highway 212, closes just below Red Lodge. This is the view you get looking south when you walk up about a mile and a half above where the road is closed.

I figured I'd start a new thread for my northern images. The sun broke through today and the snow is melting quickly now. Hopefully spring is finally arrived. This was shot on the banks of the Yellowstone River.

Try panning them. You do this by moving the camera in the same motion as the kids on the swing so that they'll be in focus but the background is all blurry. It's hard to get right and as you can see, I've still a lot of work to do but I'm getting closer

A quasi low-key image

I went to a Japanese Spring festival today. For this shot I stopped my lens down to f10 in an attempt to capture movement. Unfortunately that background is horrible but wasn't much I could do about it.
