In abstract mode.

A black & white violet.

There are times I really like this camera. A pluck from the middle.... ...of this.

First creative click. OK, I did not use my Nikon, or any visible light camera. This is an image of the night sky as seen in the thermal infrared portion of the EM spectrum. It's not a real high resolution image, so I played with it in PSE and LR5 to smooth it out a little just for fun. As...

Bear in mind I haven't been around here long which gives me a limited view of how things work, but also perhaps a fresh perspective. I'm one of those folks who reads the instructions when all else fails, so catching the stickies or those little notes in Bold Red Type is not one of my strong...

A true first click. Not the best exposure, but some extensive LR5 work seem to give it enough life to save it from the last keystroke.

Yep. A fine line there is between just right and too much. It depends on the image. The punched up version in post #11, the flower is on the verge of sinking into the background. It is subtle but it has lost the distinction it has in the before picture. My eye though and as @Woodyg3 says...

Re: Camera is malfunctioning Does the flash pop up when you press #13 shown here?

First click as I played with the AF-S DX 18-55mm VR today.

Had to give it a try and maybe accentuate the story line.

#2 is a very fine shot. Just needs a little help.

Same fix with a little crop.

I appreciate the the input and everyone's efforts. Here is my original fix finished before starting the thread. Comments welcome.

Maybe you are standing too close to the screen.:) Is this better?

My first run was with the original, but I figured downsizing would affect the outcome, so I did a second one after I downsized the original (960 pixels long edge), before starting the thread. Thanks for the @wev rendition.

This is mostly about learning the Lightroom part of photography, so I figured here is as good a place as any for the thread. I have processed maybe a dozen or so images and kind of almost getting the hang of it. Thought about posting a final image here to get some feedback, but then had the...

I was going to throw in buying a refurb for $200 and then after using it figure out what you wanted as you save dollars for more, better, bigger, faster (but probably less fruity). But looks like the @Blacktop Laptop Store had a better idea first.:)

Decided to step out last night and look for comet dust. Had a clear sky, but not a very good location. Rather than walk out to a clearing with no man-light, I opted to play with a street lamp, a tree and a constellation. First click was a little overwhelmed by the street lamp, which created a...

Curious @Sandpatch , if your experience with your 5100 is similar to what @algmiyazaki describes, or if when yours does not flash, if covering the lens with hand makes is fire??
