I took this at the beginning of the year... These were taken with almost no arena lights on... and only dealing with a bit of natural light. You should do fine with a 80-200 F4... but probably even better with a 70-200 F2.8... Especially in low light.

Great time to try out different settings. Try different ISO values. Aperture is going to be based on what you are trying to capture and how much DOF you want in the image. I like the idea of going with manual for days like this.

While the D5100 has the flip out screen which would make awkward shots easier to take... The D90 would be no worse just because you are unable to flip a screen. It's all about the photographer at that point.

Older museums that contain light sensitive paintings (historic) will not allow flash. You can most likely get away with flash with more modern pieces (20th century) that have not yet had a chance to get affected by harsh lighting. Usually areas with statues and the such will allow... but not...

When installed on my D90 in M mode, the shutter ended up locking up taking either really dark photos, really overexposed photos or half a photo. Anyone else have this problem? Shut it down, put on my SB-600 and no problems... back to normal. My intentions with the lens is more for running it...
