It would help if you posted one or two of your pictures with the settings you used. Indoor venues can vary quite a bit in terms of available light. For running horses I would probably want 1/1000 of a second or faster if at all possible. You will probably need to live with some high ISO settings...

Yesterday's hawk diving down to try to catch a prey item in the tall grass

Seeing lots of hawks lately. This morning, this one obviously saw me, as well. :)

This morning I told this Red-tailed Hawk that it was much too beautiful to be perched on that ugly streetlight. The bird took my advice and flew to another perching spot right away... sigh...

The D5600 does not have a focusing motor, so only lenses that have their own focusing motor will work with it for AF. As far as other differences between macro models, I'd guess they are both high quality lenses with good sharpness. I have no direct personal experience with them, though.
