I use BBF on all my bodies, I can do the conventional shutter button also but find specifically on the D500 and D850 I have focus modes assigned to other buttons. My AFON button uses whatever mode I choose for me "group" the joy stick right beside it is single point, the bottom front Fn button...

Welcome! I love my D500 I bought used (no longer available new in US) I recommend buying what you think you will use. I have the f mount 200/500 zoom and it's great for birds. Also very affordable for this also retired dude. Take time and get what leaves you funds to get out and enjoy...
