    Z 8 Mini Z 9 or Comparable D850 - Changes Coming

It would be a lot cheaper for me to purchase a crop sensor camera in the range of the D500 than an 800mm lens of decent resolution and speed. Not to mention upgraded sensor resolution and autofocus capability, and fps. Since I have gravitated to wildlife photography, those things are more...

Marilynne, looks you might want to check the chlorine levels in your pool. Water is looking a little green.

    Z 8 Mini Z 9 or Comparable D850 - Changes Coming

I believe you will find that the more you get out and do things, the more you will want to get out and do things. I'm finding that out now that my wife is doing well enough to leave her on her own for several hours or more. I have been looking with interest at the Z8. I would love to have one...

    here's something thats bugging me

That happens to me a lot on my Z5. I don't know of anyway to lock into the center or other positions. You probably already know, but you can easily bring it back to center by pressing the OK button.

Adaptor for Rodenstock Scitex S-3 67 mm F4.9

I think you will be happier with the modern macro lens. It will be easier to use, likely better quality images, and you may find other uses for the camera/lens combo than taking pictures of tubes.

From a black & white project: Vintage vacuum tubes from General Electric (50's production)

If I still have any, they are going to be difficult to find. I still have a few boxes of "stuff" from his shop that I brought home and stored in the 80s. If I still have any, they are likely to be garden variety, common types mainly from TVs. I remember when I was young the local convenience...

Adaptor for Rodenstock Scitex S-3 67 mm F4.9

Your post got me to thinking, I know, dangerous for me. I could get an M42 to F mount adapter for $15. I have some old screw mount lenses that I could use on my Z5. I also have a reversing ring and some extension tubes as well. I could rig up a neat little macro setup. Or, I could just borrow my...

From a black & white project: Vintage vacuum tubes from General Electric (50's production)

My dad was a TV repairman when I was growing up. He had boxes and boxes of tubes in his home shop. When he passed in the 80s, we had to clear out a whole lot of old tube type TVs and radios. I may have a box or two in the garage that has a couple rolling around in them.

Adaptor for Rodenstock Scitex S-3 67 mm F4.9

Perhaps this would work. Leica M39 to Nikon F mount. No infinity focus, macro only. The price is right. Amazon

    Z8 coming soon???

Well, it has been announced and there are plenty of Youtube videos reviewing it online now. The nickel tour is that it has the same stacked 45.7 MP sensor as the Z9. It will shoot 20 fps of full RAW up to 1000 frames. It also has a sensor shield, something I wish my mirrorless had. They are...

Recommendation of macro lens for vintage Nikon D3

l don't think I would worry too much about whether the lens is made in Japan or Thailand. I have a Z5 with the 24-70 lens which are both made in Thailand and both seem to be excellent build quality.
