Jan. 8, 2017 A Red-tailed Hawk It was sitting on a pole between the sun and myself. Not good for a photo. Then it decided to fly toward me and gave me the opportunity for a couple of shots. A Logger Head Shrike sitting on the pole that the Kestrel had been on for a couple of days last week.

I was hoping that when I went to town today I would find something to fit this category, but since I didn't I will use what I have.

Week #1 "Standing out in a crowd" No crowds around here. This was the best I could do to find a crowd to stand out in. Ha!

Jan. 6 The Sparrows saved me today. I have carried the 200-500mm lens for the last two days hoping to get a shot of the Kestrel that has been hanging around without having to crop the heck out of it. Today lugging that heavy lens around, all I saw was some sparrows in a dreary atmosphere. Blah.

This sparrow didn't look like much until I converted it to B&W. Salvaged, I think. Ha!

What others have said and my opinion was the same as Jake's. @BackdoorHippie I have the II (I bought used from Robert's Camera) and in the limited use I have put it to it does fine with the lenses and cameras I own.

Jan. 3 Continued A plane American Kestrel that just keeps hanging around the same power pole. He was flying around and I thought I had missed him. Then on the return trip around the place he had landed in one of his usual spots. One shot and he was gone. At least he let me get one.
