    Rocket Blower

I have seen Rocket Blowers recommended here in various threads. Those of you who own or have used the Rocket Blower for dust removal for lenses, what is their advantage over other bulb type blowers? Is it just the legs that you can stand it up on? The reason I ask is that I own a bulb blower...

Having a new problem with the site. "Notifications" & Private Message

I received a Private message after seeing the notification. I replied to the message. Then I received an email saying that I had a new PM. I read it on the email, original, reply, and answer to the reply. Now the problem. I still have the Notification flag for a private message, however...

What is better for this night shot?

Ok, I do not have a city close by to shoot the weekly challenge this week. I thought I could try a little substitution, but it hasn't worked out. I have a power generating plant about 7 miles away (as the crow flies, but over 20 miles by road. It is lit up and stands out well on most nights...

    Why am I missing it?

Probably none of you have the same problem as I have recently discovered that I have. With Scott, STM, being in AZ and seeing his photos, I have realized that familiarity can become a negative factor for the creativity of photographers. I have lived in the same area for the majority of my life...

Image posting --- Why did this happen?

I had the same problem as others with the greying out when trying to upload a picture to a thread today, but that is not my question. My question is why did I get both an image and a thumbnail posted in the same posting? Here is the example. I don't remember having this happen before...

    Electrical or Light reflection

On another forum, a picture was posted of a bull snake with what appears to be lightning bolts coming from his tongue. I suggested that it was from the lighting and shutter speed, but the author of the photo says because he used a "speedlight" that it can't be. What do you think? Capture My...

Curious about EV settings - Benefits, when & why

We have the capability to set the EV plus or minus X amount. I have seen some Exif info where some have set the EV to say -1 ro +1, etc. When and why do you choose to set your EV to a plus or minus setting? Is it used to be able to use an aperture settings ie 2.8 to shorten the DOF which...

    Post Processing -- Crop Size?

OK, I have been following the "Print Size" thread and then started playing around to see what cropping would do for sizes for printing and display. In Capture NX-D, cropping has a few options of size ratios ie 16:9, 4:3, 6:6 etc. and free cropping. Now for the question. Some of my pictures...

    Capture NX-D Focus Point Question

Last night I was checking out some shots I had taken earlier and seeing which ones I wanted to PP. They were shots using the 70-300mm lense and I had a few of weeds with water droplets shining in the sun. I couldn't seem to figure where I wanted to crop them for the best focus on the drops. I...
