    Marilynne's Wetlands and Other Stuff

Marilynne, I found the perfect boat for you today to purchase and expand the oceanic reach of your photography. It'll require a little fixing up sure, but a little putty and Bondo and she'll be ready for adventure. Actually, I think it's the Gilligan and Skippers' Minnow finally found ...

    HBO's Boardwalk Empire On Film

I don't know much about commercial movie making, but my wife and I are fans of HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire', an intriguing miniseries set in 1920's America during the Prohibition era. The photography is extraordinary and it's matched with wonderful sets. I was surprised to read that the entire...

    post your aviation shots!

Looking like a painting from the school of Pointillism comes this grab of one frame of a family 8mm movie from 1959. I messed with the image in an attempt to make it clear and it morphed into what you see quite by accident. I somehow like it. It might be a PanAm DC-6,but I'm not at all sure.

On the same trip we also found the very remote Q Tower in Hardman, WV. The Operator (employee) at the tower was marking his last years before retirement and invited us up for a tour. This (like HO Tower) was an "armstrong" plant, where switches and signals were all connected to the tower by...

It's October 1994 and we're at Hancock, WV looking at HO Tower. This (former B&O) line was one of the very last holdouts for manned towers in the U.S.. HO Tower no longer stands, hazing been razed in about 2004 I think.

Converting Super 8 Film Movies To DVD

I have 15 Ea * 7 Inch Reels of our family's movies on Super 8 film that I want to convert to DVD. I also have a nice c. 1965 Bell & Howell projector which works great. I do not want to have the conversion done commercially because (a) I'm cheap and (b) I cannot risk losing the films. Using a...

    Post Your Heavy Equipment Shots!

How about a circa 1980 Pettibone log loader? I sometimes have to dispose of machinery in my work. I had this one cut up for scrap with the knowledge that it was an obsolete heap, flat tire and all. It went to the big steel recycler in the sky last month.

    Post your flower pics

First sign of spring around our home. I'm not sure what these are; maybe daffodils? I don't know anything about plants, but I like their color. The flowering plant is only 6" tall.

train station, railway station or a railroad station

Wow -- that's an amazing contemporary structure Vincent! At the other end of the scale we have the modest former Milwaukee Road depot at Spaulding, IL as taken in 1976. The structure burned shortly after I took this photo. [Nikkormat FTn, Plus X Print Film].

    Post your Train shots!

I found an awesome web location with thousands of heretofore unseen vintage railroad photographs. Many are very rare. I happened upon a photo taken at Alleghany, VA (that's how they spell it, not Allegheny) at the (then) Chesapeake & Ohio's 'A Cabin'. The vintage photo was probably taken in...
