I just purchase the Z7II for the same reasons... Also, the ZTF adapter can be purchased for around $150. The range of Nikon Z lenses is getting better and better. If you don't mind a slight bigger (heavier) body camera, the Z8 would fit all your needs...

I thought about this and I was wondering if: Camera + Viltrox 2.0x Teleconverter + Viltrox Extension Tube 24mm + Nikon Z 28-400 lens, could/would work?? I know it would fit, but would it work??

I'm just trying to find out, if I would be able to use the Viltrox X2 teleconverter with my Z 28-400 lens. Like you said, unless someone has already tried the combo, it would be hard to know... Viltrox does mention only 3 lenses: 70-200, 100-400 and the 400... It could be a physical restriction...

Sorry to hear about your brother.. When I look at the Nikon teleconverter it does offer a list of the lenses it is compatible with. I was just wondering if, for instance, the Viltrox or other brands, could be used with other Nikon lenses, or it is an actual physical limitation due to the design...

Ok this is the result taken with the Nikon Z7II with Z MC50 lens and JJC negative adapter... I just realised now that my daughter has all the slides, and with me, I only have a huge box of negatives.. This particular negative was taken back in 1990, so 36 years ago... I have no idea of either...

I just tried and yes, the Option Chose Image area is not available... That means Nikon only allows to use DX image area when the FX lens is used, that behaves just like a digital zoom...

Thanks BF for that... You just took me out of buying another camera, as I don't really need it and yes the weight it is always a concern.. I will definitely wait to see if the Z7III appears on the market while enjoying the Z7II...
