    Back Button Focus

I know several people here do BBF. I experimented with it when I was using both a Z5 setup normally and a D750 configured with BBF. To my usual subjects, I did not see it benefiting me. And it broke my brain during the experiment. There is no real harm in trying it to see if it's right for you.

    This is so confusing...

Oh I got your joke, I simply was playing on the mention of Nikonian. But it is true that the Nikonians.com site is there, I used to use that resource, and I still get announcement emails from them at least 15 years since I last interacted there. I stopped due to it going to subscription only.

Vote for Weekly Challenge April 1st - 7th "Beauty In Age"

Thank-you everybody. I'm sorry to admit I was not even thinking of the weekly challenge as I took the photo. I was intending to get a proper test of the new Viltrox lens and try out some new picture controls. I only realized I might have something after I got home for the day. :)

    Different size picture

Just supposing here, but could it be the visual difference of the holding the camera about 2 feet (60cm) in front of your face instead of tight to your eye?

    This is so confusing...

And Nikonians is a different site altogether. They still send me emails so many years after they went subcription-only.

    Looking for advice

You mentioned in an earlier post photographing wildlife. You will appreciate the extra reach of the 24-120mm. And it is at least as well regarded as the 24-70mm. I think budget is the main factor. The FTZ adapter really comes in to play when transitioning from an F-mount camera. A person can...

    Looking for advice

Remember the crop factor. 16-50mm on the small sensor gives the same view as 24-75mm on a full frame sensor. You have many options in that range. The Z24-120mm f/4 is a highly popular choice. Z24-70 f/4 is out there for less. There is a Z24-200mm with variable aperture also.

What cameras are the Artemis II crew using?

I just want to know what Photoshop filter NASA used to turn the pyramid-shaped Earth into a sphere shape.

    Snap Bridge or Tethering Options

Since up grading to a Zf from a Z5, there are many new options on camera for connecting via wifi. I can connect to Snapbridge by AP mode (the "classic" method where the camera makes an access point) or by Station mode where the camera and phone can be connected to a home wifi and still talk to...

What cameras are the Artemis II crew using?

I expanded the exif data for one of the images. It was taken with a D5 and 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR

What cameras are the Artemis II crew using?

It is a pair of D5 DSLRs and a Z9. The Z9 is a trial to see how it works with radiation outside of low earth orbit. The ISS was only recently upgraded to Z9's.

    Viltrox 28mm f/4.5 pancake lens

Something else I left off. Viltrox is mostly plastic and lighter. 7Artisans is a very metal lens. The lens cover on 7Artisans is deployed by turning the focus ring past infinity. It often opens inadvertently from handling. Viltrox has a positive deployment switch. It does not open just by...

    CAMERAS USED ON FLICKER

It basically is a list of most used cameras. Canon might be a bit over-reprepresented compared to Sony's numbers.

    Viltrox 28mm f/4.5 pancake lens

The price was reduced to $79 for Amazon Days, so I bought. I have been using a cheap pancake style lens as a body cap for the past year, and the concept has been working for me. So I decided to upgrade to autofocus and AI chip on board. My blurry, handheld photo of the Viltrox Z 28mm f/4.5...

A week in with my new Zf

I did edit/create my own B/W Picture Control recipe on camera. I just modified the existing "Monochrome" and gave it a red digital filter and increased contrast. Then I downloaded a couple of recipes to the camera from Nikon Cloud and gave "Vintage Film" a try. First the standard color profile...

Weekly Challenge April 1st - 7th "Beauty In Age"

I applied a "vintage negative film" Picture Control recipe and cropped like a Kodak Instamatic 126 camera.

Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Art. It is always mentioned as a top DX format video lens.
